Staffshomeguard is much indebted to Mr. Phil Perkins for providing the following photograph of this unit. His father, Cpl. A. J. Perkins is seated in the front row, far left. The catchment area of this unit is thought to be the Edgware or Burnt Oak district of Middlesex.

Cpl. Perkins, after after a brief stint in the Royal Engineers at Ely, Cambridgeshire, was put back into his reserved occupation in toolmaking with Desoutter Brothers of Colindale, London NW9 - a factory and an engineering name long gone and sold out to Air Power tools in the 1990s, the art deco factory razed to the ground and now a car showroom on the site.

 

L/Cpl. Perkins gained his Home Guard Proficiency Certificate in 1944. Here it is:
